California Bearing Ratio for Cohesive Soils from Quasi Static Cone Tests

چکیده

The California bearing ratio (CBR) test is the most widely spread method of determining strength pavement material and fundamental to design practice in countries. This expensive, laborious time consuming, overcome this, Quasi static cone penetrometer machine was fabricated used measure consistency limits (liquid limit-LL, Plastic limit-PL Plasticity index-PI), which were develop an empirical equation determine CBR. Soil samples collected unsoaked CBR, PL, LL PI determined according BS 1377 part 9 1377-2; 1990. penetration forces at 20 mm depth also limits. It found that force 1020 gf 60 achieved a respectively. correlation regression analysis between limits, experimental CBR obtained showed coefficient determination, R2 = 0.907 all parameters using multiple linear (MLRA). developed together with relationship Penetration tested come up General Empirical Equation. Verification formula can be accurately un soaked

Nonparametric Bootstrap for Quasi-Likelihood Ratio Tests∗

We introduce a nonparametric bootstrap approach for Quasi-Likelihood Ratio type tests of nonlinear restrictions. Our method applies to extremum estimators, such as quasimaximum likelihood and generalized method of moments estimators. Unlike existing parametric bootstrap procedures for Quasi-Likelihood Ratio type tests, our procedure constructs bootstrap samples in a fully nonparametric way. We ...

Prediction of California Bearing Ratio of Soils Using Artificial Neural Network

California Bearing Ratio (CBR) is defined as a ratio expressed in percentage of force per unit area required to penetrate a soil mass with a circular plunger of 50 mm diameter at the rate of 1.25 mm/min to that required for corresponding penetration in a standard material. The ratio is usually determined for penetration of 2.5 and 5 mm. Where the ratio at 5 mm is consistently higher than that a...

Lateral Bearing Capacity of Piles in Cohesive Soils Based on Soils' Failure Strength Control

This paper presents the results of a series of numerical analysis carried out on piles in cohesive soils. Broms (1964a) proposed graphs to obtain ultimate lateral bearing capacity of such piles. However, the graphs do not cover all piles with different lengths. In this study, a finite difference program that is especially designed for piles is used. The investigations were carried out by varyin...

Influence of Bone Ash on Soil California Bearing Ratio (cbr)

The study focussed on stabilizing potential of ash obtained from calcination of cattle bones from slaughter house in Ibadan. Cattle bones obtained were burnt in an open air. The residue was fed into furnace at about 1100 o C for four hours, allowed to cool, milled and sieved with sieve of aperture 75 micro metre to obtain bone ash (BA). The bone ash (BA) was used to stabilize four soil samples ...

The Effect of Wetting-Drying Cycles and Plasticity Index on California Bearing Ratio of Lime Stabilized Clays

This paper aims to present an experimental and numerical study on the effect of wetting-drying cycles and plasticity index on the California Bearing Ratio (CBR) of lime stabilized clayey soils. The numerical analysis was carried out based on finite element method for comparison between results of experimental and numerical studies. Three clays with different plasticity indices were mixed with v...
